Though my undergraduate training was in physics alone, I have always been fascinated by problems that require a cross-disciplinary knowledge of the sciences. These interests have led me to Boston University where I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering under the guidance of Dr. Sandor Vajda and Dr. Carlos Camacho.
I presently study the physics, principally the thermodynamics, that govern protein folding and protein-protein interactions. In each case, I am interested in determining free energy based functions that can discriminate between correctly and incorrectly folded/docked proteins (decoys). These functions may then be utilized in computational methods for ab initio protein prediction and protein-protein docking.
